Designed and folded February 2013. Each model folded from a hexagonal sheet of glassine.
I have always been fascinated by the Fibonacci sequence, fractals, and waves, so after stumbling upon a picture of the Fibonacci rose tile, I knew I had to design an origami version of my own!
What I find so interesting about this design is that the sizes of the equilateral triangles that make up each wave follow the Fibonacci number sequence-- allowing them to interlock seamlessly. The wave molecules can also be connected and tessellated, so check back soon for more pictures of that!
To find out more about the Fibonacci sequence, I highly recommend watching this video.
