Aside from designing and folding, he enjoys: giving workshops, thinking about the theory of origami, testing different kinds of paper, and writing about topics including origami classification, and the impact of AI on origami. Since 2021, he’s carried out extensive research on Shuzo Fujimoto, cataloguing many of this late master’s works. He’s been a special guest at Origami Deutschland (Germany, 2023), Plener Origami (Poland, 2023) and CenterFold (USA, 2024). You can see Michał’s work, on his: [website](https://origami.kosmulski.org/), [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/mkosmul/), and [Flickr](https://www.flickr.com/photos/kosmulski_origami/). ## Peter Croall Peter started folding aged six, over 10 years ago. His first interest was folding paper planes, often flying them across the classroom! His mum then gave him an origami book to try. Looking for dragon and dinosaur models, Peter turned to YouTube and learnt (with a lot of trial and error) more complex models. He’s been designing for over five years; his first design being a Mei Long (a type of dinosaur). Peter first exhibited his folds at Milton Keynes in March 2023. He continues to design a range of lifelike animals and insects, exhibiting folds of a very high standard. You can see Peter’s work, on his: [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/peter_croall/). # Sponsorship We're pleased to announce that [Tuttle](https://tuttlepublishing.com/) are sponsoring this event, and will be supplying a pack of 100 sheets of their patterned [Kimono](https://tuttlepublishing.com/origami/origami-paper-100-sheets-kimono-patterns-patterns-6-15-cm) papers, for every folding participant. # The Venue Nightingale Hall is located on the University of Nottingham's University Park campus, situated amongst 300 acres of green space, including a boating lake. The campus is located just two miles from Nottingham city centre, with good transport links. Whilst all floors are accessible (via a lift), there are no fully accessible bedrooms. However, we do have a limited number of bedrooms reserved, in the nearby, on site, [Orchard Hotel](https://nottinghamvenues.com/venue/the-orchard-hotel-restaurant/). If you require an accessible bedroom, or are a family and would like to book one of these bedrooms, then please [contact us](mailto:bookings@britishorigami.org) for further details. Attendees staying on site, either in Nightingale Hall or The Orchard Hotel, are able to use the pool and gym, free of charge, at the on-site [David Ross Sports Village](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/sport/sport-facilities/david-ross-sports-village.aspx). The city of Nottingham is, of course, famous for the [Legend of Robin Hood](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Hood), and is home to many attractions, including; [Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem](https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/nottinghamshire/ye-olde-trip-to-jerusalem), the oldest surviving Inn in England (dating back to 1189), [Nottingham Castle](https://www.nottinghamcastle.org.uk/), [Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall](https://www.trch.co.uk/) and the [National Ice Centre](https://national-ice-centre.com/). This centre was built on the site of the former Nottingham Ice Rink, where [Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torvill_and_Dean) practiced, prior to the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, where they won gold and became the highest-scoring figure skaters of all time. *Event submitted by the [British Origami Society](https://britishorigami.org).*

"The OrigamiUSA Junior Board is planning Origami University, an event to share the concepts of geometric, representational, and STEM applications of origami. This event will serve both as a showcase of the modern day universe of origami while providing a starting point for people to build connections and form community. We hope to introduce origami as both a serious art form and a tool with broad interdisciplinary applications. Origami University will conclude with an exploration of real-world STEM applications of the origami concepts we have covered. The first half of the day will consist of three STEM-oriented lectures. Each will include a talk and a related model taught by the lecturer. The second half of the day presents a unique opportunity to hear experts discuss their projects and experiences connecting origami with STEM. After the presentations, we will move into a moderated Zoom Q&A session where you can ask panelists questions about their projects, inspirations, and what they have learned through the process. The day will conclude with a hands-on design sprint, where participants will collaborate to come up with innovative applications of origami in STEM fields. Using the insights gained from the research panel and lectures, this workshop will include brief brainstorming, sketching and model making. The session will conclude with short presentations from each group, a great opportunity to receive feedback on your ideas and interact with expert panelists." - [OrigamiUSA](https://origamiusa.org/oriuni2026-stem)

We hope to introduce origami as both a serious artform and a tool with broad interdisciplinary applications. The third day of Origami University will focus on geometric origami. This day is all about exploring the different ways paper can be folded to create shapes, patterns, and structures. Participants will have the chance to try both simple and more intricate designs, discovering the variety and creativity that geometric folding can offer. Throughout the day, classes will highlight different styles of geometric origami, giving participants the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and approaches. The schedule is designed so that everyone can find classes that match their experience and interests, whether they are just starting out or looking for a more challenging project. OrigamiUSA Junior Board members will also teach classes on simpler models, offering a welcoming introduction to geometric folding. These sessions provide an easy entry point while still being enjoyable for folders of all skill levels. The day will run two tracks of classes at the same time, allowing participants to choose the sessions that fit their experience." - [OrigamiUSA](https://origamiusa.org/oriuni2026)
